Sophia's Baptism

As good Roman Catholics, or at least raised by good Roman Catholics, it was inevitable that our daughter Sophia would be baptised.  Earlier this month, our heathen child was made part of the flock.

When deciding on Godparents it really wasn't too difficult - Chrissy's only sibling Alex, and my closest in age and proximity sibling, Monica. However, in choosing Monica to be the Godmother we forfeited the opportunity for Monica Kehrig Photography to be the official photographer - a near flaw in our otherwise perfect planning.

I say a near flaw as Monica took some pictures for us prior to the big day with Sophia in her gown.

The lovely baptism gown was a surprise gift from her soon to be Godfather, Alex. After knowing him for 5+ years I would have never guessed he had such good taste. 

Due to Monica's involvement in the ceremony most of the pictures that day were taken by my sister-in-law Alison who was fighting off a flu and also taking care of her daughter with a cold at the ceremony. She is pretty impressive - another signal that Alex has good taste....I should have realised sooner I guess.

Thanks to the Godparents who will be helping watch over her, thanks to Mom who made the trip for the baptism and to everyone who came out for the ceremony.

Pregnant

Chrissy is pregnant. You may notice her growing larger in subsequent posts as I backtrack through the summer to the present.

Recently we got pictures done to celebrate the occasion by Monica Kehrig Photography. We are extremely happy with the results that can be found here.

Posing for pictures is not my favorite thing to do so occasionally I would force our photographer to take goofy pictures of us like the one below.  Someday our child will feel great shame!

Our 'courtship' occurred mostly in the Downtown of Edmonton. We have some great memories of spending time in the downtown and felt it was a good place to capture and preserve the special occasion of our engagement.

We spent many an hour after work at Sherlock Holmes. Often we would find ourselves in the last/worst seat in the house located under the stairs...somehow it turned into our favorite.

 

We first met in my second interview for a position at EEDC located in Edmonton's World Trade Centre. She was dragged in to give her thoughts on her potential new colleague. I could tell she was infatuated with me from the onset and I got the job.

Saskatoon Berry Barn

To finish off the long weekend and our 'family reunion' a flock of Kehrigs descended on one of our favourite prairie spots - The Saskatoon Berry Barn.

Aside from being a very attractive spot along the river it offers fantastic Ukrainian food and a stellar waffle bar with fresh berry toppings. A great spot to celebrate exactly 50 years since my parents wedding. A few pictures below.

This is Christina's favorite new dress. Mom ended up hemming the top on it right before leaving the house. However, it wasn't without a small misstep.Mom ended up getting distracted by the multitude of children running about and hemmed the sleaves across from each other. I was scared that Chrissy was going to lose her mind, but she took it all in stride and 5 minutes later Mom fixed it and no one was the wiser...til now I guess. Sorry for ratting you out Mom. 

Bonus Picture - My neice Jade has quite long hair. To keep it from getting knotted her mom braids it into 3 pigtails. I have never seen that number of pigtails before and was fascinated by the process and the end product. This is Jade getting her hair done before heading out for lunch.
